Who runs InfectRisk

Honest framing first: I am not a physician. I am a software engineer who built a pipeline that reads official surveillance data — RKI, ECDC, CDC, UKHSA, WHO — and presents it as a comparable weekly signal. Nothing on this site is medical interpretation; it is data reproduction with citations.

Background in software engineering, product design and data pipelines. I built InfectRisk because the official surveillance dashboards I rely on personally during respiratory-illness seasons are scattered across national portals, in formats not designed for everyday reading.

The aggregation logic, methodology scaling and content of every page on this site are written by me. The numbers themselves come from the cited official sources, untouched in their own interpretation.

What this site is

A weekly cross-country tracker for influenza, COVID-19 and RSV activity. Coverage spans 24 countries via five national surveillance systems. Each country page shows the qualitative level (low / moderate / high) plus a 12-week trend; the app provides exact incidence numbers and personal risk modelling.

Methodology is fully documented per country page (see "Data sources and methodology"), with rescaling factors and thresholds calibrated to keep cross-country comparison meaningful.

What this site is not

  • Not medical advice. For specific symptoms or care decisions, contact a healthcare professional.
  • Not a primary data source. We aggregate and rescale; the authoritative numbers live with RKI, ECDC, CDC, UKHSA and WHO.
  • Not a peer-reviewed publication. Every claim links back to the official source so it can be checked independently.

Editorial policy

  • Content is updated weekly when the underlying surveillance systems publish their reports.
  • Methodology versioning: every page shows the methodology version and last reviewed date. Substantive changes increment the version.
  • Corrections: if you find an error, email press@infectrisk.com. Corrections are noted in the page footer.
  • No advertising, no third-party tracking, no advice influenced by sponsorships.

Funding

Renderei Martin GmbH funds the operation. The optional iOS app uses a freemium model (€0.99/year or €4.99 lifetime) — purely individual purchases, no enterprise contracts. No commercial party has any influence over the content or which sources are cited.
