How the numbers are derived

Each country is classified low / moderate / high against thresholds calibrated to its own seasonal reference values. Since national systems use different indicators (consultation rates, hospital admissions, positivity, wastewater), InfectRisk rescales them to a common consultation-equivalent signal. This lets users compare countries directly without conflating underlying reporting differences.

Rescaling uses pathogen-specific conversion factors derived from the ratio of typical seasonal peaks in each system. Methodology is documented on each country page under "Data sources and methodology".
